Annie Trimble grew up in California,
where music and singing were part of her life from an early age. There she was involved in
several bluegrass bands, and as a song leader for the Girl Scouts. Annie has performed with
several traditional music groups in the Pittsburgh area. She is currently a member of the
Cajun band, Grand Bon Rien, and plays
piano with Band du Jour, Pittsburgh's favorite contradance band.
Annie is also a talented songwriter: her ballad "Elena's Song" won first place
in a song writing competition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Homestead steel
strike in Pittsburgh. The humorous "You Can't Get There From Here", written about driving
around in Pittsburgh, can often be heard on WYEP-FM during the
Saturday Light Brigade, and on American Sampler
on Sunday mornings.
